Acupuncture needles are hardly ever felt, and that's because they're extremely thin - less than a quarter of a millimeter. That's almost as thin as your hair making them virtually painless.
The odd time that you do feel something, just let your practitioner know. They'll adjust to a thinner needle or use a different point so you don't need to endure any pain.
All needles used in acupuncture have been pre-sterilized, are single use, and disposable. This is done to ensure an extremely low risk of infection. Similar to how dentists pre-sterilize their instruments before use, such a protocol is used by acupuncturists as well.
Everybody's body heals at a different rate and for this reason we cannot guarantee an exact number of acupuncture treatments.
We do however, provide a treatment plan at your first visit. At the end of which, we'll re-evaluate to gauge how fast your body is healing with each treatment.
At your first visit, you will meet your practitioner at one of our acupuncture clinic locations in Toronto. They will discuss your health concerns, go through your health history, and evaluate your current state of well-being.
Prior to performing the acupuncture treatment, your practitioner will ask if you have any questions, and perform a few diagnostic measures. These include checking your wrist pulse, looking at your tongue, and possibly checking your abdomen, and back.
During the treatment, you can relax, breathe, and enjoy some time to yourself.
At the end of your first visit, you can enjoy some tea - which is chosen based on your condition.
The practitioner will explain to you your overall diagnosis according to Chinese Medicine, provide a recommended treatment plan, and food recommendations to keep your body balanced and on track to recovery.
